Part of a major road in Staffordshire has reopened after it was closed in one direction due to a lorry fire which caused long delays.

Police were called to A50 between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter at about 10:30 BST, following reports that a HGV had caught fire while stationary.

The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

at 15:48, National Highways said the road had reopened.

No-one was injured in the blaze, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

Firefighters were "dampening down hotspots and making sure the area was safe," a spokesperson said earlier.
