Man died after being stabbed in the leg - inquest

A dad-of-seven whose death is being treated as murder died after being stabbed in the leg, an inquest has heard.

Colin Richards, 48, from Grangetown, Cardiff, was found "unconscious and bleeding heavily from a wound in his leg鈥 at about 23:00 on 7 April.

He was sitting in a car on Snowdon Road, Ely, waiting for his friend when he suffered the fatal wound, South Wales Central Coroner's Court heard .

Police and paramedics attempted to treat him, but they could not save him and he was pronounced dead at 00:22 on 8 April.

A post-mortem examination concluded that he died from a "stab wound to his right thigh".

Coroner Rachel Knight opened an inquest saying she had reason to suspect that Mr Richards died "due to violence".

The inquest was suspended due to a "pending criminal investigation" - police are still searching for two men wanted in connection with Mr Richards' death.

She expressed her condolences to the family and friends of Mr Richards in 鈥渢his tragic case at this sad time鈥.

Mr Richards was described as a much-loved father and grandfather and an "all-round family man" in a tribute by family.

"Though the loss is deep, the power of love and friendship will always stay alive," they added.
