Four teenagers have been arrested after about £10,000 of damage was caused during a break-in at a school in North Yorkshire.

Classroom equipment was wrecked, schoolwork was "desecrated" and the sports hall was left "unusable" in the attack on Norton College over the weekend of 5 to 7 July.

Three 15-year-old boys and one aged 14 were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of burglary with intent to commit damage, North Yorkshire Police said.

All four have been released on conditional police bail as the investigation continued, it added.

Officers thanked members of the public who had come forward with information about the break-in and urged anyone else who could help to contact the police.
