Two men have been arrested over the fatal shooting of a "hardworking, innocent" father in east London on Sunday.

Police and paramedics were called in the early hours to reports of a man injured in Linton Road, Barking.

He has been named as 32-year-old Hanif Redwood. He died at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the head.

The men are being held on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Mark Rodgers, from the Met, said: “Hanif was an innocent member of the public whose life was tragically taken far too soon.

"Hanif was a father of two, this painful loss will forever affect his family."

He added: “I want to stress to you that Hanif was a hardworking, innocent man - we need to understand why this attack was carried out."
