A food hall aiming to become Scarborough's "go-to foodie destination" has applied for permission to serve alcohol.

Wilson鈥檚 Food Hall, which will incorporate local artisan businesses in one unit, has applied for an alcohol licence from North Yorkshire Council.

Based on Seamer's Main Street, the venue is due to open next month featuring "independent and local" food and drink businesses from across the region.

If approved, the sale of alcohol would be allowed at the food hall from 10:00 to 22:00 seven days a week.

The playing of live and recorded music would also be allowed during the same hours, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Wilson鈥檚 Food Hall said that its offering would include an 鈥渆xtensive wine collection and wine bar, bakery, charcuterie, ice cream, and retail".

On social media, the business said it was "soon to become the go-to foodie destination in Seamer, Scarborough鈥.

The licence application is open to representations from members of the public until 28 October.
