Tributes have been paid to a "kind and caring" father of two who was killed in a crash in Doncaster.

Aiden Allen, 31, died when the car he was a passenger in left the road and hit street furniture in Goodison Boulevard in Bessacarr on Sunday.

According to South Yorkshire Police, the 19-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

In a statement issued via the force, Mr Allen's family said his death had left them "very broken".

They said he had been a "loved son, brother and uncle and a proud dad to James, seven, and Tommy, five.

鈥淭he boys were his world and he was theirs, he was so proud of them both and spent most weekends taking them to football and was so proud of their achievements," they said.

鈥淎s his brothers and sisters we feel like we鈥檙e missing the middle piece of the five-piece puzzle."

Describing Mr Allen as "kind, caring and extremely loyal", they said they would "forever miss him and cherish the time we had with him".

South Yorkshire Police continue to appeal for anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.
