A man believed to have been the victim of machete-wielding attackers has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Reports that a man had been assaulted in Osmondthorpe Lane, Leeds, following a road traffic collision were received at about 18:30 GMT on Sunday, police said.
Initial inquiries indicated the man had been attacked by two other men travelling in a vehicle which had been pursuing his car before he was involved in a crash with two vehicles near the junction with Neville Parade.
The man, 21, was treated in hospital for lacerations to his head and torso that were not life-threatening and he was later arrested and remained in custody, according to West Yorkshire Police.
One of the other drivers involved in the collision received minor injuries, while the suspect vehicle left the scene, a force spokesperson said.
Anyone who saw what happened, or who had information about the incident, was asked to contact the West Yorkshire force.
