Rail passengers are urged to prepare for disruption as engineering work takes place over the weekend.

Services to London Euston will take longer as passengers will have to take buses from Milton Keynes. Also, Birmingham New Street station will not open until 10:00 GMT on Sunday.

Transport for West Midlands has urged people to plan ahead and check their routes in advance before they begin their journeys.

The authority also has warned there will be no trams running from Wednesbury Great Western to Birmingham from Friday to Monday due to work being carried out.

West Midlands Railway previously warned passengers using the West Coast Main Line to travel either side of the Easter weekend.

All Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway trains will start and finish at Milton Keynes with replacement buses operating services into London.

CrossCountry passengers are advised to check timetables before travelling as the firm said they have changed to make bank holiday journeys more reliable.

Meanwhile, Birmingham Airport has urged passengers flying over the weekend to make sure they are properly prepared to reduce delays through security.

This includes removing hats, scarves and coats, removing electronic devices from bags and ensuring liquids are in containers of 100ml or less.

The RAC has warned that more than 14 million trips are planned over the Easter weekend, with all motorways, including the M6 and M5, likely to be busy.

Data provided to RAC from transport analytics firm INRIX suggested the best times to drive over the Easter bank holidays would be after 17:00 GMT on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and after 20:00 BST on Monday.
