A major road between Leeds and York has partially reopened after an oil spill.

Police shut Junction 44 of the A1(M)/A64, near Bramham, on Thursday after the spill, which caused three collisions due to vehicles sliding on the road.

The road has now reopened in the westbound direction, according to the AA and RAC's online traffic monitors.

However, the eastbound lane remained closed at 10:30 GMT as emergency repairs were carried out.

On Friday North Yorkshire Police appealed for the driver of the vehicle responsible for the oil spillage to come forward, as they said he did not stop at the scene.
