A man who carried out a historical campaign of sex offences against a child has been jailed after being found guilty of 10 offences.

Andrew Lucas, aged 56, of Shareshill in south Staffordshire, abused his victim a number of years ago before the survivor came forward to tell police what had happened.

Lucas denied the reports but was found guilty at Stafford Crown Court of six counts of indecent assault of a boy and four counts of gross indecency with a boy.

At Birmingham Crown Court, Lucas was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Following the 14 June sentencing, Det Con Grant Dixon from Staffordshire Police, who worked on the case, said: "I鈥檓 really pleased the evidence we gathered was enough to prove Lucas鈥 offending and secure justice for the survivor.

"I鈥檇 like to commend his tremendous bravery in coming forward and telling us about what happened.

"We鈥檙e passionate about supporting those affected by sexual crimes and seeking the toughest punishment possible for those responsible."
