A family have paid tribute to a “caring, funny and selfless” man who died after he was hit by a car.

Aiden Perris, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Boldmere Road, Sutton Coldfield, which happened shortly before 22:30 BST on Thursday.

A woman who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation, West Midlands Police said.

Mr Perris’s family said he was a devoted husband, a proud father and a loving son, brother and uncle, as well as a “dear friend to many”.

They also described him as a “true Irishman” who lived his life to the fullest and created “unforgettable memories” that they would treasure forever.

“He showed us the value of hard work and will be remembered for the caring, funny and selfless person that he was,” they said.

“Aiden was a family man whose wish would be for us to pull together and support each other during this time.”

West Midlands Police has appealed to any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.
