Organisers of a town's seventh pride event said this year's celebrations would be their "biggest" festival yet.

Northampton Pride will take place on 13 July at the university's waterside campus and with a parade through the town centre.

It has been organised by the Northampton Pride Committee and West Northamptonshire Council's LGBTQ+ and Allies Forum.

Northampton Town Council also revealed it would be the event's main sponsor for the event.

The festival will feature live performances, entertainers, stalls and food.

David Smith, from Conservative-led West Northamptonshire Council, said it was "set to be the biggest Pride festival in Northampton yet".

"This event is about people coming together in celebration and to stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community, who are an important part of West Northamptonshire," he said.

Jane Birch, a Labour councillor on Northampton Town Council, said: "We are really excited to see the event grow year on year."
