A Crawley house fire, in which a dog died, is believed to have been started deliberately, police have said.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at a property in Creasys Drive, Broadfield, at about 15:15 BST on Saturday.
Sussex Police said it was being treated as "suspected deliberate ignition".
No-one was injured in the fire, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed earlier.
Crews and six fire engines from Crawley, Horsham, Storrington, Worthing and East Grinstead attended and were still working to bring the fire under control after 17:00 BST.
The fire service advised nearby residents to keep their doors and windows closed and others to avoid the area.
Sussex Police said there would be an increased police presence in the area while it assisted the fire service at the scene.
