Further arrests made over fatal stabbing
Two further arrests have been made by police in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 41-year-old man in Barnsley.
Alan Sutton died after what officers described as an "altercation" between a group of men on Burton Road in Monk Bretton on Sunday afternoon.
Two women, aged 36 and 50, had been arrested on suspicion of affray, police said. The 36-year-old had also been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, and both women remained in custody, officers added.
It brings to seven the total number of arrests made in connection with Mr Sutton's death.
Earlier this week, a 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 40-year-old man was detained on suspicion of affray, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and assault.
Another man, aged 41, had also been arrested on suspicion of affray and assault.
All four had since been released on bail pending further inquiries, police said.
Meanwhile, Callum Strachan, 21, appeared at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with murder.
Mr Strachan, of Burton Road in Barnsley, was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday 9 September.
Police asked for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
