Boy, 17, charged with murder after fatal house fire

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man died in a house fire in east London, the Met Police said.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Oval Road North, Dagenham, on Saturday afternoon and, having forced their way in, found the body of a man in his 70s.
Police said the man's family had been informed but formal identification had not taken place.
The teenager has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and is due to appear Barkingside Magistrates’ Court later.
Another male, who was arrested in connection with the investigation, has been released on bail pending further inquiries, the Met spokesperson added.
Officers have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident on Oval Road North between 17:00 and 18:00 BST on Saturday to contact police.
