A man has been charged by police investigating disorder during two rival protests in Leeds city centre earlier this month.

James Gettings, 35, from Bramley, was due to appear before the city's magistrates' court later, charged with causing harassment, alarm or distress through words or behaviour, officers said.

The alleged offence occurred as demonstrations by anti-racism and anti-immigration protesters took place on 3 August, according to West Yorkshire Police.

The force said that to date 33 people had been arrested in connection with the disorder.
