A working men's club in North East Lincolnshire is closing due to a decline in customers.

Cleethorpes Working Men's Club, in St Peter's Avenue, served its final pint on Sunday.

Established as a working men's club in the 1990s, a fundraiser was set up in November 2023 to buy the club extra time. About 拢4,000 was raised, management said.

Tom Steer, the club's vice president, said they did "everything they could" to try and keep the venue running.

Club vice president Tom Steer is hoping the building can one day reopen

In December, Mr Steer told the 成人快手 eight regulars - described as "big characters" - had died in the past few years.

During the 1950s, the building was home to the Royal British Legion club.

Tom Steer, the club's vice president, said the building needed "a new lease of life and fresh ideas", adding he hoped it would eventually reopen as a pub or something similar.

"On behalf of myself, the committee and the lovely bar staff we would like to thank all the customers down the years that [sic] have supported the place.

"It's such a shame to see it close and we're all absolutely devastated, we did everything we could but the decline of customers eventually caught up with us.

"We go out with our heads held high, we hope that it reopens at some point, fingers crossed."
