Plans for new flats to be built close to a church in Wolverhampton have been unveiled.

A three-storey building containing 10 apartments would be built on Bushbury Road near Holy Trinity Church in Heath Town.

The proposed area was vacant and overgrown with vegetation, said a statement accompanying an outline planning application to the city council.

The deadline for a decision over the planned site, opposite Heath Town Park, is 9 September.

Proposals include access to the back of the site with a car park that will have accessible parking spaces, the statement from architects Martin Ward & Keeling Ltd said.

The development "allows little restriction" to existing views towards the church.

It has been vacant for "some years with previous dwellings being demolished many years ago", the statement said.

The planning document also indicates there is scope for planting vegetation at the front of the building.
