Sixth man charged over fatal alleyway stabbing

A sixth man has been charged after a man was stabbed to death in Stoke-on-Trent.

Thapelo Jali, 21, was found in an alleyway on Buccleuch Road, Normacot, at about 12:50 BST on 22 July and died at the scene.

Israar Tariq, 27, of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, was charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place, police said.

He appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Wednesday and will next appear at Stafford Crown Court on Friday.

Five other men have also been charged over Mr Jali’s death and are next due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on 11 October.

Police said a 35-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and a 62-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender were both released on bail.
