Former bakers to be turned into flats

A former bakery in Sheffield is to be converted into flats after plans were approved despite some objections.
The two-storey building on the corner of Howard Road and Cromwell Street in Walkley will be converted into one-bed flats.
A business known as The Bakers Shop had been based at the site for 10 years before it closed last November following the owner's retirement.
Several residents had voiced concerns over the plans on the grounds that parking was already an issue in the area and they feared extra homes would make it worse.
Councillors were told that the developer's proposal was to create four one-bedroom flats in the building between 430-1,119 sq ft (40-104 sq m), according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Access to the property would be via two sets of doors, both onto Howard Road.
A secondary entrance was located at the rear of the building and accessed via an alleyway, which also provided access to the rear gardens of the adjacent dwellings, planners said.
