Sex offender jailed for string of offences
A sex offender described as a dangerous man has been jailed for 28 years.
Peter Leigh Rogerson from Tamworth was found guilty of 24 non-recent sexual offences, including rape, sexual assault, sexual assault of a child and indecent assault.
Staffordshire Police said evidence against the 58-year-old was built over four years.
"The survivors in this case have been paramount in making sure Rogerson answers to his crimes and is imprisoned for the longest possible time," said Det Con Alex Goldman.
The survivors of his abuse had shown incredible bravery during the investigation, and helped police put "a dangerous man behind bars and seek the toughest possible punishment."
In addition to the 28-year prison sentence with a six-year extended licence period, Rogerson was put on the sex offenders' register for life, and is the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
鈥淲e are committed to pursuing perpetrators of violence, abuse and intimidation against women and girls as robustly as possible and I hope this serves as an example of that," stated Det Con Alex Goldman.
Rogerson was found guilty following a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in September 2023, and sentenced on 5 April.
