Football changing room to become community centre
- Published
A football changing room is being kitted out to be used as a community centre.
More than 拢30,000 is to be spent renovating part of the football facilities at Kirk Hallam鈥檚 Windsor Crescent park.
A section of the changing room block next to the play area will become a space for the wider community to use.
The funding for Erewash Borough Council to carry out the project follows calls from the Kirk Hallam Community Wellness Foundation for a new youth and community space in the area.
Councillor Josy Hare said: 鈥淲ith money being so tight for the council I pay tribute to our team for managing to find outside funding for this project.
鈥淚t means that the residents of Kirk Hallam are getting a crucial new space for the community to make use of.鈥
Richard Smith, senior grant manager at the FCC Communities Foundation, which is financing the scheme, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted to be supporting the conversion 鈥 and pleased our funding will make such a difference to so many groups of people.
鈥淔CC Communities Foundation is looking forward to this project having a positive impact very soon.鈥
