Arrest as pedestrian dies in suspected hit-and-run

A pedestrian has died after a suspected hit-and-run in Woking.
Surrey Police said officers were called to Maybury Hill at about 22:40 BST on Monday after reports a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and left the scene.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, and causing death by careless driving while unfit.
The road remained closed between the junctions of Oriental Road and Maybury Road, Surrey Police said on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers appealed for witnesses, dashcam or helmet cam footage, or to speak to anyone who may have any information.
A spokesperson said: "We are particularly interested in tracing the movements of a black Mercedes."
