Drugs, including one used by vets to end the lives of sick animals, have been stolen from a car.

Pentobarbital, which can be used to anesthetise animals as well as for euthanising them when used in larger doses, was among the items taken overnight in Middlesbrough.

Cleveland Police said the drug is "potentially fatal" if taken by humans.

They are urging anyone who has been sold the drugs or has any relevant informationto contact them, or hand the medication to a pharmacy.

A police spokesman said the car's window was smashed while it was parked on Park Road South near Albert Park.
