Man denies causing woman's death in Leeds crash

A driver has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of an 18-year-old woman in a collision in Leeds.

Georgia Bendelow died in hospital two days after the car she was travelling in crashed with a BMW M3 being driven by Thomas Sherwood, 34.

Ms Bendelow was a passenger in a Seat Mii when it collided with the BMW on the A63 Selby Road in Swillington Common on 31 August 2022. Two other people in the Seat were also injured

Mr Sherwood, of Tranquility Avenue, in Cross Gates, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving before being bailed ahead of a trial on 27 April 2026.

Mr Sherwood also denied two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death by a driving a vehicle while unlicensed and uninsured.
