A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after he was assaulted during a car robbery.

Thames Valley Police said the victim, in his 30s, had parked a black Range Rover near the Co-op in Beanhill, Milton Keynes, at 21:56 BST on 30 May.

When he returned, a man had entered the rear of his car and threatened him with an item covered in a black and white plastic bag.

The two then exited the vehicle and following an altercation, the victim was assaulted causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the concrete while the offender stole the car and left the scene.

The injured man was taken to hospital to have emergency surgery to alleviate a bleed on the brain.

He sustained a fractured right eye-socket, two separate skull fractures and various cuts and bruises.

Witnesses or those with dashcam footage have been asked to contact the force.

Police described the suspect as a black man, in his 20s or 30s, around 6ft tall and wearing a dark tracksuit.
