Man jailed after Creamfields sniffer dog detects modified brush

A man who was stopped by police while trying to enter a music festival with a modified hairbrush used for smuggling drugs has been jailed.

Cheshire Police said Daniel Jackson, of Lionel Road in Eltham, London, was caught after a sniffer dog reacted to him as he went into Creamfields North in Daresbury on 25 August 2022.

The force said a search of the 29-year-old's belongings uncovered the brush, which was filled with empty snap-bags used to store drugs.

He admitted attempting to possess with intent to supply Class A drugs at Chester Crown Court and was jailed for two years and four months.

A police representative said after he was stopped, Jackson's phone was seized and analysis revealed he was involved in drug-dealing.

Speaking after sentencing, Det Con Neil Fleming said Jackson had had "no option but to plead guilty to the evidence stacked against him, and now he is facing the consequences behind bars".

He said he hoped the sentence sent "a clear message to those who think they can travel to Cheshire to sell illegal drugs".

"You will be prosecuted and held accountable for your actions," he added.
