Strong winds could cause disruption, especially in coastal communities across the East of England, forecasters have warned.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Northamptonshire from 09:00GMT until 23:45 on Saturday.

Gusts of 45 to 55mph (72.4 to 88.5km/h) are predicted.

People have been warned of possible travel disruption, power cuts and large waves in coastal areas.

The Met Office said: "Winds will increase in the west during Saturday morning then across other areas through the afternoon.

"If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves.

"Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea."

It added: "Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
