Met officer accused of sharing rape CCTV images
A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with two counts of misconduct in public office.
PC Adam Aspinall Da Encarnacao, attached to the policing team in West Area, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates鈥 Court on Monday.
He is accused of inappropriately possessing and sharing CCTV images concerning the alleged rape of one woman and the rape of another.
PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao was arrested on 12 September 2022 and suspended from duty. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges on 3 July.
One of the women was Natalie Patricia Shotter, 37, who died in Southall Park on 17 July 2021.
Mohamed Iidow, 34, of no fixed address, was charged with rape and manslaughter on 21 December last year.
The Met Police said it had informed Ms Shotter鈥檚 family of the charge against PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao.
"Our thoughts and sympathies remain with them for their loss and for the impact this news will have," a spokesperson said. "We have also informed the second woman."
The force said the matter was also being investigated by professional standards officers.
Misconduct matters would be dealt with after criminal proceedings had concluded, it added.
