A kayaking group has been praised by rescuers for having all the right kit after one of them got into difficulty off Land's End.

Falmouth Coastguard said it received a call from the seven kayakers on Wednesday at 10:00 BST after one of them fell into the water from his craft west of Longships Lighthouse.

Sennen's RNLI crew brought the male kayaker, who was suffering from sea sickness and was feeling cold, back to shore where he was treated by paramedics.

Following the rescue, the RNLI crew from Sennen said the kayakers having all the relevant equipment helped them get the man back to shore.

Second coxswain Dan Shannon said: "The kayakers were a very competent group and carried personal locator beacons as well as VHF radios.

"They were unfortunate but had all the necessary equipment with them to call for help when it was needed."

The RNLI crew said the other six kayakers were able to paddle back to shore unaided.
