Thousands raised for charity at 70-year-old Jersey bar
Hundreds of people turned up to a Jersey beach bar and nightclub to celebrate its 70th birthday, also raising thousands of pounds for charity.
The Watersplash, a popular haunt with the island's surfing community, has been serving locals and tourists since 1954.
It held a 12 hour-long party, including live music and a surfing competition, on Saturday to mark its anniversary.
Staff said those in attendance helped to raise almost 拢3,500 for Jersey charity Healing Waves, which provides "impactful ocean therapy sessions for individuals with disabilities".
General manager Piers Dupoy said the event had been "brilliant", with bands playing on the outside terrace, followed by an after-party in the indoor bar.
He said: "There were a lot of families early doors and then it turned into a bit more of a party from about six, seven o'clock.
"People were really celebrating the 70th anniversary, and celebrating in style.
"Healing Waves had a stall down here: they were selling raffle tickets; they had a surf simulator and they were selling some merchandise.
"They raised 拢2,444.71 from all the stuff that they were doing.
"I haven't done the final count yet but it's about 拢1,000 that we took on the door that we will be donating to Healing Waves as well, so it's an excellent day for them and a little extra boost for their funds."
