Works to replace road studs on a busy route in linking the east of the Isle of Man to several southern routes has been completed early.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said contractors Colas IOM Ltd had now finished fitted the items along the stretch of road between the Cooil and Braaid roundabouts.

The DOI said the remaining road closure order on the stretch of road, which was in place until Friday, had now been "nullified".

During Monday's closure, the department's lining team had also taken the opportunity to refresh the white centre lines along the route.

The operation formed part of an island-wide programme of works to replace the road studs carried out by the contractor.

The DOI said while "a handful" of the items put in place as part of previous phases of the scheme had "not adhered to the carriageway properly", they would be refitted by the contractor using "local traffic control measures" rather than a full road closure.

The next phase of the stud replacement programme will be in the west of the island.
