Murder trial date set for fatal stabbing accused

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering another man in a stabbing in Barnsley.
Alan Sutton, 41, died after what police described as an "altercation" on Burton Road in Monk Bretton on Sunday 1 September.
At Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, Callum Strachan, 21, of Burton Road, entered no plea and was told by Her Honour Judge Sarah Wright that a trial date had been set for 21 July 2025.
Mr Strachan, who was charged with one count of murder and two counts of possessing bladed articles, was remanded ahead of a further hearing expected to take place on 9 October.
