Bomb squad called to suspected mortar find

The police bomb squad was called out to a Derbyshire village over a potential explosive.
A member of the public spotted what they believed to be a mortar while walking in Froggatt in the Peak District, at about 12:00 BST on Wednesday.
The alarm was raised and Derbyshire Police鈥檚 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team descended on the scene, near the Grouse Inn.
On closer inspection, the discovery was the lower part of the mortar used to fire a shell, and no explosives were attached.
A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: 鈥淲e were called by a member of the public who had found what he thought was a mortar while walking near the Grouse Inn.
鈥淭he EOD team attended the scene due to the concerns and it was found to be the lower part of a mortar, but no live ammunition was attached.鈥
