Within days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, its military occupied the village of Vorzel, just outside Kyiv.

Our short film follows Roman and Mariya, who sheltered at their home with their three children for a month. Radio became one of their main lifelines, with power in the village often down and people left unable to charge their phones.

Roman explains how ‘families were shot in their cars’ from lack of information – driving in the wrong direction without mobile phone connection. But he and Mariya helped keep neighbours informed through the power of radio.
