Around the world, democracies - and the public interest media critical to thriving democracies - are under threat.
Rapidly changing media ecosystems, declining trust, the threat of mis- and disinformation and other challenges make it hard for people to know where to turn for reliable, impartial and trustworthy information that can help them address the problems in their lives.
In some contexts where we work, trusted, trustworthy public interest media may not be present at all.
We work to build and strengthen broadcast and digital media that provide people with trustworthy information, and we strengthen democracy by supporting public interest media content and platforms, so that vulnerable people can participate in democratic processes as active and informed citizens, better able to understand and address the biggest challenges they, and the world are facing.
Through media development and media content, we support political and civic participation and improved accountability at local and national levels by increasing audiences鈥� understanding. We encourage them to discuss politics and governance issues, and helping them to develop the knowledge and confidence to take action.
Our work also helps shift negative attitudes and social norms that may block people's participation. We strengthen the role of media across election cycles, supporting transparency and accountability. We ensure audiences have access to trustworthy information, tackle rumours and mis- and disinformation, facilitate forums for debate and help societies to negotiate pre- and post-election tensions peacefully.

Information disorder
False and misleading information divides societies and threatens our health and well-being. Curbing its spread is an urgent and difficult challenge. Our work supports people and media organisations to counter the production and spread of misinformation. -

For 25 years, we have worked to support independent media around the world. strong public interest media underpins development and democracy, enabling people to participate in the debates and decisions that shape their lives. -
Accountability and participation

How we work
Our in-depth mentoring and training programmes are based on the values and standards of the 成人快手 and sustained over years; we often co-produce programmes with local partners, and in some areas we produce programming ourselves, drawing on local talent and based on deep research and understanding of local contexts, for broadcast on 成人快手 and local networks.
We also provide strategic support to a range of media standards bodies, media decision-makers and journalists as a sustainable way to improve media coverage of elections.
