We have had several incidents in the last year and the polive are simply a waste of time. Last week two thugs took a sledge hammer to our from room windows and stole our plasma TV screen. This was at 2000 in the evening. I was ill but saw them leave. My wife is now terrified of being in the house on her own and I am trying to buy a shot gun. I have no wish to be stabbed to death in my own house by two thugs.

Mr Todd, what has happened to your special constabulary officers, they had all the powers of the police and did a great job in salford, why did the goverment not pay them instead of these wardens. Please get the specials back on the streets.

Transmit and recieve kill your speed. To combat the increasing problem of speeding would it not be a good idea to set up transmitters with a certain radius and with pre-set speed limites which would transmit a radio wave to a reciever which is built in to cars as standard. If this system could be devised i think that many would agree that it would be better than have spread camera's. The receiever should only be installed by those certified by the local council.
If a car is found to be speeding with the radius set by the transmitter the the receiver sends a message to the transmitter which passes the message on to the transport police who then in-turn would issue a fine.
I think that it would help beat the speed crisis at the moment if brought in to reality.

MR TODD WHY HAVE SPECIAL CONSTABLES IN GREATER MANCHESTER HAVING THEIR RANK STRUCTURE CHANGED, AND WHY DON'T YOU INCLUDE THEM IN ANY OF YOUR COMMENTS IN THE NEWS PAPERS. ALSO IF SPECIALS HAVE ALL THE POWERS OF THE POLICE, WHY HAVE YOU NOT PAID THEM. NOT ALL SPECIALS WORK FULL TIME AND I AM SURE YOU COULD HAVE GOT 6 SPECIALS ON RETAINED PAY FOR THE COST OF ONE CSO

I complained recently to the Stockport Divisional Commander after witnessing two of his officers park their car illegally and ticket cars parked in the same manner. I felt this was a double standard. Furthermore I heard the officers using bad language. I have still had no response from the Stockport Divisional Commander and would like to know how it is that such senior manager can be allowed to ignore complaints. I'd like to know Mr Todd's view on a) The officers actions b) The Divisional Commander's lack of response.

I found the webchat very informative and I commend the Chief Constable for making himself available to discuss the issues raised. I particularly hope the Mr Todd gets his wish to increase the manpower of GMP to his vision of 11 000 officers as I think this would go a long way to solving many of the problems our communities face - well done Chief Constable, keep up the good work!!

Some excellent points raised which I feel were answered brilliantly by Mr Todd. I waited over an hour to get onto the live chat but never got past the "chat room will open shortly" page. I was most annoyed I couldn't participate as I'm sure many others were. Please bare this in mind for the future please!
