Get Ready for Metz & Trix

A new era in Bhangra awaits - we catch up with Manchester鈥檚 Bhangra boyz Metz & Trix at the Manchester Mela and talk about their new album Get Ready, Get Set.

Metz & Trix: the facts

They are childhood friends and grew up in Manchester

Began as the Midnight Lick Crew in 1998

Were resident MCs at Aiya Napa in 1999 - 2000

The 'Danger' album (2001)听was a huge success with its east-west fusion

'Get Ready Get Set' Volume 1 & 2' is out this summer

It features Abrar Ul Haq, Sukhwinder Singh and Labh Janjua

Guest producers include Surinder Ratten, J Skillz and Panjabi Mc.

Manchester born and bred, Metz & Trix are already established artists within the Asian Music Scene.

Their phenomenal music style incorporates influential MC lyrics in English, RnB, Urban hiphop, UK Garage and Drum and Bass, which is uniquely blended with traditional Bhangra to give a greater uplifting style for all to hear.

They recently performed at the Manchester Mega Mela in Platt Fields Park.听 Speaking to the 成人快手 Asian Network reporter Rahila Bano, Metz said: "Performing in Manchester, our home town, is wicked man, because we're born and bred here and it's excellent."

Talking about the new album Get Ready, Get Set, Trix said: "It's got a lot of new talent on there, that we're pushing. We've got the hottest producers, the hottest beats. There's something for everybody out there, there's a different flava for every type of person. It's not garage, it's not bhangra, it's everything."

Metz added: "Basically we've got a lot of worldwide artists. It's coming out on Moviebox which is one of our great labels. It's got good dance man. Many many international artists. And you know it's got Trix on there flowing away!"

Back in December 2001, Metz & Trix took the Asian music scene by storm with their first collaboration on 'Danger'. They鈥檙e also well known for their work with other artists. Remember the massive hit track by MC Metz on the award-winning album 'The Lick?'听 Followed by MC Trix on the well renowned RDB album?

Previous collaborations include, The Lick by Surinder Rattan, RDB, XLNC, MAC听 and Punjabi Hit Squad.

Get Ready, Get Set is due for release at the end of the summer.

I kno Metz and Trix personally.....im not bein biased or anyting....but both Metz and Trix are good Mc's...theyr clearly talented....n they have formed a basis for other Asian MCz...since the seperation between Metz, Trix and RDB.....i can actually see a negative correlation on the success of RDB....or shud i say lack of success.....many ppl like Metz and Trix...(come on dont deny it)and at the end of the day their records sell.....so....they are here to stay! it doesnt make a difference if they are from a certain background, for the image shouldn't be the thing that people should be recognising! The lyrical content is the main thing people should be focusing on, and since the lick, Metz has not delivered what i believe he was capable of! Trix is cheesy and so is Metz, i hope one day they will deliver rhymes that are profound not rhymes that are incoherent and pointless!
