MARK
AND LARD'S LAST RADIO SHOW
On Friday the 26th of March DJ's Mark Radcliffe and Mark Riley
broadcast their last Radio 1 afternoon show from Manchester.
After thirteen years of music and comedy resolutely based
in the North West, Mark and Lard have finally called it a
day and decided to go their separate ways. Powerhouse has
been given exclusive access behind the scenes of this piece
of broadcasting history. Watch

A
PIECE FROM THE DOVES
The Doves are one of the country's biggest bands right now.
From Manchester, they're currently recording their new album
in Liverpool. We have exclusive footage - and this really
IS exclusive footage - of the band at work, including a sneak
preview of one of their most recent compositions, a track
that marks a dramatic change in style and tone. Watch

NORTHERN
LIGHTS
When darkness falls in Oldham people in offices, shops and
out on the streets are treated to some fine examples of public
art - and they may not even know it.

NOT
SO CAPITAL OF CULTURE?
Last week on Powerhouse we showed how comedian Keith Carter
- also known as Nige the scally - played a surprisingly big
role in Liverpool's successful bid to become Capital of Culture
2008.
But now that Liverpool's won the title, who will benefit from
it? Is Capital of Culture about tarting up the city centre
and staging a few concerts? Or will it try to involve everyone
in the city? One man who isn't sure the council is heading
in the right direction is Laurence Westgaph.

THE HeART GALLERY
If you're single and looking for love you may be one of the
increasing number of people who are discovering that art galleries
are places where men and women can meet and connect. But do
art and lonely hearts really go together? To find out we staged
a unique experiment, and put it in the capable hands of stand-up
comedian and singleton, Rob Hallam. He's joined by Big Brother
psychologist and people watcher, Geoff Beattie.
