Black History Month's being marked in Bexley with drama workshops touring local preschools. October's set to be busy with exhibitions and festivities planned across the borough

Black History Month

Preschool children and their parents are being taught about black history through the medium of dance, song and drama.

The 'Whippersnappers' group went into the Arnott & Acorn preschool to get families in the mood in time for the official day of celebration on the 2nd November.

For many the start of Black History Month celebrations began with one person - Akyaaba Addai Sebbo, who worked on the former Greater London Council in the late 1980's.

The first event was held on 1st October 1987, when the GLC bought over Dr Maulana Karenga the originator of Kwanzaa in the US.
