How will Greenwich change by 2025?

An extra sixty thousand people are expected to move into the London borough of Greenwich over the next 20 years - and councillors are asking how the area should adapt for the future.

Whether it's housing, transport or dealing with climate change - planning officers are calling on residents and businesses to share their views on how the Borough should change over the next two decades.

Long term plans are now being drawn up to help improve local infrastructures, cater for health and well being of neighbourhoods and overhaul the look and feel of town centres.

"Exciting period of major change"

Cllr Pete Brooks who is in charge of regeneration in the Borough said: "this growth and change presents a number of challenges, and there are a number of ways of addressing them."

He went on to describe the influx of 60,000 residents by 2025 as an "exciting period of major change."

A document called the 'Core strategy' outlines the various options that are up for consideration and now planners are inviting suggestions from locals. Three drop in sessions and a questionnaire on the council's website are designed to help canvas views.

The deadline for returning questionnaires is the 7th April 2008.
