Photographer Peter Sanders has shifted the focus of his work in the past thirty years from the music idols of the 1970s, to documenting the remnants of traditional Islamic societies. His latest exhibition, called ‘The art of Integration’, subverts common perceptions of British Muslims. He said: "Islam isn't on the fringes of British society.ÌýRather, it has become part of the very fabric of society." The Union Jack veil He has photographed Muslim individuals in modern Britain, including writers, rock icons and a police constable. He also examines the architectural influences of the Muslim world expressed in the Shah Jehan Mosque in Woking and a Turkish bath in the shadow of the Gherkin.
