The Requiems

The Requiems

The Requiems: dream band for those who like their pop harmony-filled and injected with a syringe full of funk.

Its hard to believe The Requiems formed a short six months ago. Check out their MySpace (myspace.com/therequiems) and the band's video portrays an outfit far more advanced than one might expect from a mere fledgling. But 'tis true and you'd better believe it, because if this is what six months graft has produced, then 2007 could prove most fruitful indeed for the Wimbledon quartet.

Band members, James Stapleton (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Tom Webb (Lead Guitar/Vocals)
Robin Lewis (Bass) and Al Magill (Drums) each bring their own unique taste to the group. From The Prodigy (James) to Jeff Buckley (Tom) The Requiem combine a diverse range of sounds to achieve what is a still very solid end product.

The band's influences also stem back to the early 60's, with a cover of Ray Charles' Hit The Road Jack, featuring on their current set list.

Jagged, indie-tinged guitar is meshed with base and lead lines featuring more than just a hint of funk, while harmonies soften the edges, lending the band a mellifluous overtone.

The Requiems Live

Having not been around so very long, one might be forgiven for thinking the band wouldn't have the biggest back catalogue of events to choose their most memorable from. But impressive, none the less, when they tell us that the recording of their latest E.P., live at the London studios (ITV), would be it.

The requiem's CD, An Introduction To, is available to buy from the band's website, www.therequiems.com. You can hear the London Calling featured song, Tomorrow Night, all this week by following the Listen Again link to Gary Crowley's show. It's due for release early 2007. Alternatively visit the band's My Space, www.myspace.com/therequiems, for more music, videos and images. (All links in right-hand column of this page.)
