I
was born and bred in Prescott. I was brought up in Victoria
Place, Court Number 1. It doesn鈥檛 even exist now.

The
whole of the air raid shelter was covered in flowers. They鈥檇
planted flowers to disguise it. It was full of marigolds.

We
never went without a big fire. It was the focus of the house.

You鈥檇
take the oven shelf out, wrap it up in an old cardigan and
you鈥檇 put it in the bed. You had to be careful you didn鈥檛
burn you鈥檙e feet on it.
