Presenter Janet Sumner visits the Sefton Coastline to explore the huge range of wildlife living there. She soon realise that the jewel in the crown of this stretch of beach is the Northern Dune Tiger Beetle. As this is only one of two localities in England where the insect can be found it is classed as a vulnerable species. They love warm sand and lay their larvae in burrows. In this clip, Janet helped by Dr Phil Smith, was lucky enough to find a pair of them mating. Birds also love this patch of beach and it is a great place to spot rare species like the ringed plover as well as lapwings and skylarks. As well a being able to spot all kinds of rare orchids here, it鈥檚 the only place in England where you will find the Baltic Rush. last updated: 08/04/2008 at 14:55 You are in: Liverpool > Nature > Nature features > The Northern Dune Tiger Beetle
