Laugh Your Socks Off!The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre have been entertaining crowds at this years Leicester Comedy Festival. Their "handler" Kev F Sutherland has strong Leicestershire links. This year Leicester Comedy Festival has taken audiences to new heights of entertainment with a whole host of eclectic acts. For five days of the festival audiences were able to enter into the strange world of The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre at The Gilded Balloon in the City Rooms. The show could almost be described as an a Punch and Judy show for adults... just with socks, who are Scottish, and sing.
Listen: Interview with The Scottish Falsetto SocksThe Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre has had a great run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival with tremendous reviews all round. 成人快手 Leicester's Chris Baxter chatted with the socks about their rather unique act...
Help playing audio/video The socks don't have names, but are kind of related - they come from the same batch. Despite their promotional leaflets, which shows one of the socks destroying the Clock Tower, the socks are pleased to be in our city: "Very big in women's tights they are in Leicester and we're delighted to be here. "I'm noticing that almost everybody is wearing footwear - Hallelujah for Leicester and it's outstanding - well it's not outstanding, I've never noticed it before - but well done for your hosiery." The gray wooly socks fill their show with dramatic productions, mini sketches and a good number of songs. Listen: Interview with Kev F SutherlandKev Sutherland, comedian, writer, producer and comic artist is proud to be light entertainment's Renaissance Man. Amongst other activities, his comic strips appear in The Beano, he is possibly the World's Fastest Caricaturist and, of course, he assists the Scottish Falsetto Socks. 成人快手 Leicester's Chris Baxter chatted to the man behind the socks...
Help playing audio/video Kev was born in Aberdeen but lost his Scottish accent very quickly. Most of his childhood was spent living in Evington and Kibworth, whilst he went to school in Market Harborough: "Leicester is very much a home from home for me, and it's a delight to bring my friends the socks here."
Comics and ComedyHe's written for a range of different comics, including the famous American company Marvel, and uses his skills in school workshops: "Working in classes is great because kids are overflowing with ideas and comics are a marvelous way of getting them out, because some kids draw before they write. "And that's actually what I did - very visually orientated." The sock puppets idea came from his involvement in the Sitcom Trials in London - and event where comedians compete against each other onstage. In the next few months Kev will be taking on a new type of comedy. For Comic Relief he will be attempting the challenge to see how many jokes he can tell in one hour, a record that has been held recently by Tim Vine. Quick fire comedy is not Kev's usual style so he's looking for as much help as possible to tell over 500 jokes - he's welcoming people to send him jokes via his website. last updated: 13/02/2009 at 11:06 You are in: Leicester > Entertainment > Theatre and Arts > Features > Laugh Your Socks Off!
