The prototype support pants

The prototype support pants

From Paxman to Jackson

成人快手 Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman first dragged the quality of men's underwear into the spotlight with a letter to Marks and Spencer. So now 成人快手 Leicester's Ben Jackson goes on his own quest to find underpants that aren't "pants".

How do you go from hand-making bespoke wooden kitchens to designing men's underpants?

Well, that's what one Leicestershire businessman is doing. Paul O'Leary is the boss of DeVol Kitchens, based in Loughborough.

But he's decided to diversify and has gone from crafting kitchen drawers to men's drawers!

Listen: Interview with Paul O'Leary

成人快手 Leicester's Ben Jackson went to talk to Paul about his super pants...

Paul began his kitchen business 20 years ago and it was then that he first came up with the idea of making supportive men's underwear:

"When you start a business you have to do everything yourself including delivery, and we were doing some antique furniture restoration and picking up furniture from all parts of Leicestershire."

Ironing the pants to perfection

"In and out of the van every five minutes, driving for four or five hours into the night, I soon realised that it was quite a painful experience.

"We joked about the condition, which we called 'transit 'nads!'"

Paul thought there would be something on the market to help ease his discomfort, but was disappointed to find there weren't any underpants that would give him some extra support.

So now, 20 years later he's gone into business producing men's underpants.

He's teamed up with an expert in garment production and they're trying to do "something new in men's underwear."

The super pants are only a prototype at the moment, but Paul says he'll be sure to send Ben and Jeremy a pair to try out when they're on sale!
