Two designers based in Leicester share their experiences... Beena SonigraBeena Sonigra of Design Inspiration explains why she's taking part in Asian Rain and how it's shaping a breakthrough in community fashion: "We were always keen to merge our design ideas with Asian trends, and started out catering for non-Asian audiences. Here comes the bride... "But meeting Bijal Parmar and working on creating unique looks for bridal wear in her show gave us a great opportunity to showcase our interest and talent in this particular part of the fashion industry." Beena has specialised in creating dynamic bouquet displays ever since she was a little girl, and is enjoying the experience of working on a project which takes creativity to the max. She says: "We can be as flexible and crazy as we want with the Asian Rain project, appealing to both Asian and non-Asian audiences from in and around Leicester." As well as combining traditional themes with catwalk shows Asian Rain are looking to represent upbeat contemporary looks in to their shows. SheetalSheetal of Static clothing in Leicester, is one designer who has been in discussions with Bijal to participate in an 'urban catwalk' show as part of the Nasha Asian Rain show in November. She says: Beautiful brides... "I specialise in urban wear – I see this as a style of clothing that isn't necessarily set for any 'one' group, it represents an individuals sense of identity." Asian Rain has opened the doors to more then just one style of clothing and is looking to create shows presenting any style of common trend. Sheetal continues: "I think working with Asian Rain is great, especially the fact that models from all over Leicester with no formal training are able to take part, our clothing is urban and edgy, and will look great in contrast to the other shows hosted at Nasha." Both these designers agree that hosting dynamic contrasting styles at an event like Asian Rain would attract audiences from all backgrounds. Sheetal says: "It's great to finally see an event in Leicester that brings a community together. It's simply a form of communal entertainment."
