Saturday 25 August 2007Saturday morning. I'm in the arena early and the rumour is everywhere. The litter-picking guys, the woman just turning up for work at the burger stall, the security guards. All of them talking about it and handing the rumour on. Kaiser Chiefs playing a secret gig under another name, Carling Stage, half one. Katy's view of the KC gig Now myths spread pretty easily at festivals but this one's worth checking out I reckon. So at twenty five past one I'm ambling along towards the rumoured venue and it all looks quiet. Suddenly, I Predict A Riot booms out from the tent and a few people start running. Then more. Within seconds hundreds of people are running towards the Carling Stage, realising that it’s actually the band playing live. They've put up a security cordon 50 metres from the tent so only limited few get in.Ìý Within minutes, crowds are at the fence but there’s no way past the security. It's a privilege to be there. Everyone looking at each other and smiling in disbelief... And then the roar goes up. "Yorkshire, Yorkshire". A girl by the side of me catches my eye and mouths "Got goosebumps!". Yes, this was special. We lucky few… Don't miss the Raw Talent festival special, Sunday 26 August 8-10pm - listen live online.last updated: 26/08/07 You are in: Leeds > Entertainment > Leeds Festival > Festival Diaries > The lucky few [an error occurred while processing this directive] |
