Cheers and good night

Some years ago, my father decided to learn Polish and started off with some basic phrases, like na zdrowie, cheers, and dobranoc, good night.
One evening, at a party, he decided to raise a toast. He stood up, raised his glass, chirpily exclaimed dobranoc! - and chugged the vodka! In his defence, six or seven shots later it was dobranoc for real!

I am Lithuanian but sometimes people ask me if I am Polish and then at the end of conversation say spasibo which is thank you in Russian.

Thank you, that's pretty funny! Polish can be confusing ;)

It's really nice when people come to Poland and say zdrastwujte, which means 'hello' ... but in Russian :)

Poliglots ...
